Already activated device upgrade

Quick question, something I can't seem to find any answer to or possibly the lack of similar question is my answer...

I have an already activated "4.16 air" device(Jstvro). It was purchased activated. Do I still need to purchase a new activation key if I upgrade to a new version? Any video or instructions I can find for upgrading seem to indicate the existing license is lost. That is, no one is showing that the existing license is preserved. Is the license tied to the device forever or the version and device?

Not that I am against supporting the project further, but doesn't seem easy to pick through the sea of seller questions to find a purchase option that isn't somewhat questionable. Especially when the latest version is a Beta, I might want to try it, but when the final version comes out, do I then again need to pay for a new license; I think the point is pretty clear.

I have the same question as the OP.

I have purchased a pre-activated ATS-25 AMP with firmware 4.17 Air Beta.
The only information about its license I can find is in the "INFO" menu:
License key: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

Is this the only information that should be kept in case something goes wrong during an upgrade? (whenever 4.17 final or a later version is released)
It was not delivered with any paperwork, so no more license data.

There is a problem - the ATS120Pro receiver - I bought an activation key, flashed v4.2, but when I enter the key it displays the message: "Check your key on the website harduino.ru." It turns out that they sold a fake key and it is not suitable for activation?
Or am I doing something wrong?
