so i bought a ats25 maxx-decoder II......

anyways, it came in fine.

i did notice that when moving it about the was a rattle to it.

so i removed the rear cover. i found that it was the board itself moving around.
further inspection revealed that the wifi antennna mount and the bnc mount were not tight. (the nuts on the back cover were loose)
it the process the wifi antenna became disconnected to something, i assume it was connected to the bluetooth moduale, as i couldn't finnd any place else to connect it to. so i attached it there. and i buttoned it back up, and made sure everything was tight.

shortly after turning it on, enabling wifi, it promted me to download ver 4.2. over the air (so wifi WAS working.)

after a reboot here is where things went wrong.

a. the wifi no longer works.
b. i never could get the bluetooth to connect to any bt speaker or bt headphones i have on hand.

trying to revert back to 4.17 i was greeted with a black screen after boot up.

so i went back to ver 4.2.

my main intrest was decoding ft8. and i believeyou need the wifi working to sync the time and stuff so it can do that.

did i do anything wrong to get the messed up?

an adendum: i found a pair of bt headphones that actually work with this thing. so the bt does work, just a bit fussy about it. and they sound good with the fm broadcast band.

also the wifi has 2 green bars when i set the radio within a foot of the router. is that normal with these radios?

You have connected the antenna incorrectly. Connect the Wi-Fi antenna to the ESP32. There is the same connector as on the Bluetooth module.

what is the ESP232??? is that the board the screenn is mounted to or the main board itself?

thank you for that info. i had to unmount the front panel to see it. so now its finally working properly!
